  • refreshing bluegrass sound

Seems a lot of recent Bluegrass sounds too much like bad Bill Monroe. These guys are bringing some new fresh sounds to the genre. Made me bring out my banjo again. So maybe everything isn't for the best :)
  • Pleasant surprise

Was actually searching for Dead Girl by Acid Bath when I clicked the Dead South out of curiosity. In Hell I'll Be In Good Company hooked me. Totally unexpected as I am typically not into folksy music. But you cannot deny the two step in the video.

  • Interesting Band

Modern blusgrass? I'm not exactly sure how to classify this music other than to say it is good, really good actually. The vocals as well as the music is really different from typical bluegrass - they use a cello to provide the bass lines, no drums other than a foot drum occasionally and good accustic guitar and mandolin - and the banjo of course. If you are into music that sounds different than anything traditional you'll likely enjoy this band. I think they are really good, good enough to buy all of their albums and watch lots of videos on YouTube. Worth the investment of time and money - a really good band! I think they are from Canada which is a little surprising for this type of music... Buy it, listen to it, enjoy it. I found them on YouTube in a playlist that included Blackberry Smoke another great band but more of a country-rock vibe.

I know I know I know. Throwing that out there seems a bit over the top, but this album is truly special.
