A fantastic comeback.
Yes it’s different. It’s much more dynamic and soulful. I love this album so much, as well as most of the songs being so fun. The people who don’t like this album just can’t accept that time exists and that music changes. But the thing is, IT HASNT CHANGED. It’s still fantastic and amazing. It may not be as memorable as things such as Captain Fantastic Or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, but it’s just as great.
To The People who are thinking of buying this.
Listen to some of these on YouTube first then buy them. I love this album so much, some people who don't know the concept of aging don't like it because he sounds different. The instrumentals and his voice are amazing it. Listen to "In The Name Of You." It's so good.

This album is WONDERFUL! The rock n roll piano is fantastic. Highly recommended for true Sir Elton Fans!
Elton back to Piano Rock!
His voice is a bit thicker now in his late 60s, but despite the reviews above, which seem to be based on one listen to a single, this album sounds very genuine, with a mixed feel between classic Elton and the Disney hits (which should not be discounted). The cover is horrid! I'll give them that, but the songs sound great. I'm impressed! It's predominantly "Piano Rock" with plenty of nods to The Blues and Country Rock. It's not some glittery self indulgant piece of celebrity pop, that's for sure.

Was EJ trying to get out of a contract?
Please Stop...Just Stop
I've been an Elton John fan since I was in elementary school ( I'm 51 now). If you were to track his career in five year increments you would see that his first five years were awesome, the next five equally as good and that would bring you the 1980's. The beginning of the end. The last truly great Elton John/Bernie Taupin song was Empty Garden and Oscar awards aside its been a steady decline since then. I had hope for this album as it was produced by T-Bone Burnet and that does show in some of the arrangements but overall this is, unfortunately, typical late career EJ crap. I saw EJ on a TV show where he said he could put music to anything and then he did. The problem was the music he created on the fly sounded just like every other song he has written since the 80's, and this album is no exception. So like many fans I will listen to the older songs and remember what it was like to be excited when a new EJ album came out. Therei s no excitement for Wonderfule Crazy Night
