  • Released the wrong show

    By Bruce's Ghost
EC’s 2006-2007 tour with Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II was phenomenal. Unfortunately this particular show isn’t. The songs with JJ Cale fall flat and really detract from the album. And it sounds like Derek’s guitar is turned down in the mix. A far superior show is on a soundboard bootleg called Stardust, recorded in Japan. That show needs an official release.
  • Eric & Derek

The Layla double LP, w Eric & Duane Allman was one of the greatest of LPs of all-time, but was not much appreciated when it was released. Live in San Diego is a rare chance to hear Eric & Derek Trucks together. Simply fantastic! Buy this and enjoy these great guitarist and their wonderful interplay together. Wow!
  • "The Last Of EC's Best"

Eric Clapton has been, is & will always be great, to his fans! His "Real Fans", have a special bond that people & even his regular fans will never be able to understand! When he knows something's being taped? His playing that evening, goes up a notch, even if you think that's an impossibility! He just lights it all up! From 1999 & the first "Crossroads" special guest show in MSG? Through this album? Shows Eric at his zenith! The "Clapton/Winwood" show was his best playing ever recorded! This falls in that 10 year slot! This' "Magnificent"!
  • Slowhand never sounded so good

Clapton plays some classic and favorite songs with a fresh take from a great supporting cast of musicians who bring their own flavor and voice to these great songs. The musicianship is off the charts as is the guitar playing, but what really shines through is the fun that they're taking in performing these songs. The vocals are great, the sound quality is top notch, and I can't stop playing this album all the way through. I gifted to people immediately after my first listen, it's so good you'll want to share it

The songs with JJ Cale do not go well. The others are excellent, with some songs he seldom plays. Without the Cale selections, I'd give this five stars.

EC has more live product than there are grains of sand on the beach. This one sounds especially spirited and worthy of attention.
  • Great concert album, great tour

    By Gwingler
I also saw Clapton this tour in Raleigh. One of the most pleasant concert surprises ever. I've seen him a number of times, but this show with Derek, Doyle and even a guest appearance by Robert Cray sent this show over the top. You could tell the friendly competitive spirit really pushed all these guitar virtuosos to the top of their game. A real joy to watch.
  • It Ain't the same without Bobby

    By dlowell
Wow. I saw this Tour as well. This is some of Eric's finest work in decades and I have sat some of his truly lame, lame concerts. That being said, this is a great band particularly Doyle and the drummer. Still for the life of me can not figure out why I am not listening to Bobby Whitlock playing and singing with Eric. Such a shame that Eric can't get over what went down 46 years ago and figure out a way to include Bobby in any of his live projects.
  • Get It!
