This album is massively overlooked. It is hands down one of the most compelling rock records of the last decade and why it didn't achieve more acclaim baffles me. This was a fearless follow up to an absolute staple of the genre and maybe the best pop punk record of all time in So Long, Astoria. I remember thinking during the time Brand New was writing the follow up to Deja Entendu "How can they ever live up to an album that good?" Eventually The Devil and God Are Raging inside Me came out and blew my mind. This album is the Ataris D&G. It's a major departure from the skate punk style they had been perfecting for a decade. Kris Roe is one of the generation's great song writers and this album serves only to prove his genius.
