This is my favorite maiden album of all time from start to finish everything is perfect. I think all bands in their carrier try to make an album of this caliber. Aces high starts the album and what can I say. This song is a master piece with an uplifting tempo and some heavy lyrics about war and charging at the enemy and gunning them down 10/10 2 minutes to midnight is a very catchy song and I like it very much. If you don't understand what it's about you will enjoy listening to it. But if you do you will release it is an anti war song about atomic war. Another 10/10 Los for words. I know I spelled that wrong. This song is the only instrumental on the album and maidens last. It does break up the sections nicely but can get a little boring at times but not a lot. 8/10 Flash of the blade is like sun and steel of piece of mind but better. This song has a cool verse, a cool, chorus, and a cool riff. 9/10 The duelists is a great song anyway you put it. It is six minutes long and when you read the lyrics you can see it has little you may think it could drag on. It doesn't. I love this song with songs like aces high. 10/10 Back in the village was one I listened to rarely. But now after giving it a shot I realized how powerful this song is. 9/10 Powerslave is such an amazing song. The riff and especially the chorus. The song did start the ancient Egyptian part of the album. Now some people could say that singing about ancient Egypt was silly. I assure you this song isn't silly it is a great song. 10/10 The time of the ancient mariner is one of the best songs every crafted and shows how Steve Harris is the king of songwriting. These kind of songs come once in a lifetime. The song is 13 minutes long and I'm always sad when it's over. It has some of maidens best solos, some of their best riffs, some of Bruce's best vocals, and some of steve's best lyrics. 11/10

The 2015 remastered albums from Iron Maiden are a lot better than the 1998 remastered. A lot of people like Number of the Beast, but this is my personal favorite Iron Maiden album. Every song is strong and powerful. The first six songs establish a recurring theme of war and conflict. Just as it looks like a concept album, the theme switches, oddly enough, on the title track itself, which deals with ancient Egyptian views on religion and death. The real hidden treasure is the 13+ minute Rime of the Ancient Mariner, based on the Coleridge poem by the same name. That song is the textbook definition of progressive metal. Overall, if you love heavy, progressive, and/or British metal, you need to get this album.
