  • Everything Music

One of the many times I’ve been privileged to see Amos Lee in concert, he said, “Nobody can tell me what I can and can’t sing…” He’s proved it yet again. I love that he’s not a genre but a musician. I love this album almost as much as I loved the first one. Keep ‘em coming!

This is a return to where Amos started at the beginning of his career with downright infectious R&B, Soul & Gospell tunesthat make you glad to be alive. I loved Amos' journey's into folk & country music, but honestly, this type of music is best suited for Amos' soulful voice. Spirit, is one of the best albums I have heard in a long, long time!

Amos touches an internal thrum with his voice, lyrics and oh so well played arrangements. Pure and original music. Mercy. Great new album.

I'm loving both the development and continuation of this work. I'm thankful for Amos Lee's artistry and am glad to see the healthy maturation of an artist!

I can never get over how good Amos Lee is! This is another great album with great variety and amazing music. My 4 year old actually wanted to listen to this over watching a movie in the car. The only downside to this album is that it doesn't live up to the live performance. He's even better in concert! He is 'shake your head' good!
  • One of His Best

I've been following Amos since his first project. Like all artists, there have been hits and misses, but there was always something outstanding on every project. But this?! By far in my top 3, and trending. A true artist whose musical growth lyrically and musically over the years is the culmination of this project. One of the things I liked about him is that for me, he was unclassifiable and I often worried that he would lose that thing that made him so great. I promise you, he has not. Buy this project, you will not be disappointed. Every song a work of art.

Love and soul at its best! This album is a bit different than others, and every bit is perfection. Can't wait to see them on tour.

I'm lost on this one. Sorry Amos. There is so much glossy instrumentation that the music has lost its soul. Slick drums, strings and horns and hardly any guitar. Where is Amos? The repetitive lyrics and scat singing don't do it any favors either. The song writing isn't strong. The band sounds like a backing band on a late night talk show in the 80's. I'll skip this tour even though I've caught the last two. Looking forward to the next album or a Spirit Unplugged.

This album is one you can put on and let play the whole way through. It is full of beautiful, soulful songs. I highly recommend it!

So far I've loved everything I've purchased from Amos, and I have to say every album has its own distinct personality. This one is no different. The one thing that is a stand out about this record and I can't believe it is the bass playing. I usually love Amos' voice and songwriting. This album is no different in that regard but the bass playing, and rhythm section overall, are just phenomenal on this record. I've never heard of Adam Blackstone before this record but man if you're reading this...you're a monster!!! Kudos to Amos for getting this guy on his recording.
