This is an amazing album! It's best when you just play through the whole thing like Dark Side of The Mood. Amazing when walking alone in city streets and subway etc.

Lots of “futuristic” 80’s movies tried to predict the way music would sound in the future. It was always some mix of crappy synth sounds with non sensical rhythmic ideas and bad lyrics. Welcome to the latest Grizzly Bear record.

No one is making music like this anymore. Lush, complex, cinematic, emotive and beautiful. These 4 incredibly talented lads are saving the indie rock sphere. Bravo, GB!

Their best yet. It is an album that you keep finding more and more about as you listen.
  • A wonderful step forward while still keeping the essence

I love how this album (like all previous ones) take a few listens to click. I wish Ed sang more in the album, but I like Daniel's vocals too. Aquarian is such a cool song. I've had it on repeat for a few days. The only thing I don't like about this record is that it seems like the vocal harmonies have been moved back a little behind the mix and the punchy drums have been moved to the front. If you listen to this album and then play Shields or Vkmst you'll notice the subtle difference.

I seldom write music reviews, but this band, and this album more specifically, deserves all the praise in the world. I have to admit, I'm a bit biased in that I love everything this band releases. That being said, this album is a great representation of what this band has to offer: interesting instrumentation, amazing production/sound textures, and lovely melodies. If you like this album and haven't heard their other music, then definitely check out their previous work - it's all great. The guitarist, Dan Rossen, has a beautiful playing style, choosing chord voicings and implementing song structures that are very unique and original. His voice paired with lead singer Ed Droste combine for amazing harmonies submerged under the beautiful sounds underlying the songs, courtesty of producer/multi-instrumentalist Chris Taylor and the phenomenal drumming of Chris Bear. All of these songs have something to offer even the most casual fan of music and, even though this might not be my favorite album of theirs, Grizzly Bear continue to make amazing tunes packed full of interesting ideas, something a lot of music produced nowadays is sorely lacking.
