Lana's music has always been so transcendental. This album, just like most of her previous albums, is a pastiche of 50’s Hollywood music and 21st-century Indie pop. The leitmotif of sad-core is particularly profound in Lust for Life...thanks Lana.

Not as consistent as Honeymoon, but a step in a different direction for her that can spice up her discography, especially with songs like Cherry, In My Feelings, and Get Free. The topics she introduces in this album are also quite different and not the typical lana lyrics most of us are used to hearing. This album is a grower, especially the second half, but once you learn to take in what she trying to tell, it becomes an amazing ride of optimism.

Lana takes me straight to California, to an empty beach, wearing a daisy chain. I absolutely love this album. Her lyrics, melody, and vocals are everything.
  • Really? Rap?

I love her retro style, reaching back to the 60s, 70s, and 80s. However, I feel like she’s tainted this with her inclusion of these trashy hoodrat rappers. The Weeknd has a smooth, 70s voice that I can appreciate, Stevie Nicks is a goddess, and Lennon is a nice inclusion. But rap is NOT Lana. It honestly saddens me. I’m not buying any songs that include (c)rap in them. Lana was that mainstream artist you can look to that hadn’t bought into the whole rap genre. A beacon of hope. But now she’s turned into every mainstream singer in the early 2010’s, including rappers into every song. Lana, it ruins the song. Those annoying ad libs in the back make your songs laughable, and it’s cringy. I love your music, but please release the songs without the rappers. It’s just not you.
