  • Great songs, when Karen is on them....

    By telebluzman
I agree with the other reviewers who say that they love the cuts which have Karen on them. Unfortunately, Richard continues to remix and change stuff around and the songs with his voice just can't compare to Karen's amazing vocals. I'll stick with Christmas Portrait.
  • Best Christmas Album Ever

This is what Christmas music is all about! Truly the best holiday album there is!
  • No thanks!

    By Freedomreigns2012
Yes! I love Christmas! It's sour grapes to boo the Carpenters but so be it I suppose! I've always loathed this woman's voice. Nearly 100% of the time she sounds so depressed! Boo! Hiss! Sorry, just had to get that out and be done w it! This is the 1st and the last time I will ever review the Carpenters. Glory be!!
  • Amazing That is all!

This is hands down the classic for Christmas music. Incredible arrangements with Karen's golden voice make this the best ever.

  • Childhood Memories

    By Maggie0803
I am a child of the sevenities and I remember being 5 years old listening to the voices of the Carpenters because my dad played/owned all of their albums. I was looking for some of the Christmas music I grew up on in the itunes library and this is a classic! It brings me back to a time when the holidays were about family and traditions. The warm voice of Karen and arrangements Richard captured, brings it all home again - A must have Christmas collection cd!!
  • a Christmas Staple

    By redrick
I am so glad that this album is finally released in its entirety. I had the "Old Fashioned Christmas" on LP and still do. I was waiting for the right time to see about getting it on cd so that I can add to my ITunes. I was glad to see this collection. After reading some of the liner notes Richard writes, he mentions his feelings about this collection. I remember reading that if Karen had lived they would be on their 4th Christmas album by now. Of course that was a few years ago when it first was released. I also remember reading in other places that Christmas Portrait is the most coveted album through the years. Even so that it has been the top 10 most purchased Christmas albums in the 80's, 90's, 00's and today. That is very impressive since Karen took over some of the production on the Portrait album. I have to confess that I listen to these songs when I am feeling down a loss of a loved one or friend etc. Not just listening to them around the holidays. I do not feel these songs will ever grow old or out of date. I also feel it will remain one of the most needed albums for years to follow.

  • 5 Stars for Karen, 2 stars for the rest!

    By Woodland Elf2
I'm very dissappointed in this collection. I expected to hear Karen's voice on all of the songs and found that she was only on about half of them, if that. Otherwise it was Richard and a choir in the background or an orchestra playing. With all due respect to Richard, the reason I bought this was so that I could hear Karen sing these Christmas songs. The Carpenters were great because of Karen's beautiful voice. The 30 second previews were not enough to tell if she sings or not because of all the orchestration. It's okay, but not what I was expecting!
