I regret purchasing this album. There is nothing on here worth listening to. Madonna either does not care or has just lost her ability to write music. This is pure nonsense.
  • Embarrassingly Weak

I’ve been a die-hard Madonna fan, since the early 1980s. I love everything between Everybody and Girl Gone Wild. I especially enjoy Celebration and Living For Love remixes, which are great for cardio workouts. I also admire Madonna for not going anywhere when new stars try to imitate her. That said, WOW is this Madame X album WEAK! God Control features embarrassingly awkward lyrics that sound like Madonna lazily intimidating Lady Gaga’s rhymes. Madonna’s God Control video is eye candy with flamboyant disco costumes (despite its topic of American gun violence), but the six minute song is hogged up by a snorefest intro of church choir music that is NOT Like A Prayer. Between Madonna’s cancelled Madame X concerts and this awful album, she’s losing me! Hopefully, we will get another Ray of Light from her someday.

MadamX next to a Ray of Light are my top favorite Madonna’s album. They’re so well crafted, with beautiful, smart and profound lyrics. There are no skips ones on these ones.

A great album. Why were the singles not more successful? Because she's been blacklisted by radio for quite sometime now due to ageism and sexism. Success at radio requires a little thing called radio play. And she hasn't gotten that in a long time because she is a 61-year-old woman. The songs are great. Not at all what I expected from Madonna, but that is the beauty of her: she keeps reinventing herself. As an honest Madonna fan, I will never call these songs bad because they are not. I loved them all. And I will never be sorry about that.

Brilliant and timely, this is an above average intelligence album that deserves a few listens. After seeing the MX Tour, I found the songs and images resonating even more. Life is indeed a circle and Maddy has brought us around to thinking about our own roles in this crazy world. Thank you.

This one (finally!) brought me back to my knees at the altar of Madonna worship. It took me about 20 listens, but, in my estimation, this is her best music venture since "Confessions On A Dance Floor", and it really deserves to be called a MASTERPIECE. Yes, yes, yes, I also have abhorred the use of autotune in much of M's output in recent years, but somehow with this album it works, at least to my ears, on every single track. In watching the "World of Madame X" free doc on Prime (THANK YOU AMAZON!!!), I thought M's explanation of the voice augmentation at the beginning of "God Control", which was supposed to make her sound as if she had her jaw wired shut, as if she is being silenced, made that song REALLY work for me. This is the sound of most music today, and y'all know our girl will ride the trends and pave new ground in the process, so I've just decided to get onboard the train and enjoy the ride! When the tracks from this first started to trickle out, I would play them for my partner, who loves Latin tinged vibes, but who is not a big fan of Lady M's. Without knowing who he was listening to, he stopped dead in his tracks and wanted to know who the songs were by, so, after 23 years, we can FINALLY bond over Madonna. LOL! We got tix to see her in Miami, something I have not done since the Reinvention tour, and something I had no interest in after seeing the disastrous (in my opinion) Eurovision performance, but, thankfully, my partner talked ME into it while I was still on the fence about the album. Can't wait to see Madonna closer than I ever have before!!! Bottom line: If you hate this album, but are a huge fan, KEEP LISTENING....it DOES get better. I have it on constant rotation every single day, and I would never have thought that possible when it first came out. Go girl...!!!
  • Looking forward to the album.

I like the new song! Okay, some of these songs are decent and some are awful. Dark Ballet makes me bust out laughing every time I hear it. Rebel heart was good. Her voice sounds reedy and nasally on this record. She actually sang on rebel heart.
