  • Disappointing

Yeah Maynard has been a jerk the last 13 years whenever ppl asked about this record and it’s obvious why. He knew it was bad. Either way very very bad album by one of the best.

I rarely rate, well, anything; but this album deserves—indeed, COMMANDS—mentioning. Concurrent with many trance albums, the musical progression takes the listener on a journey, somewhat cryptic in nature, and is analogous (from a literary standpoint) to St. John of the Cross’ “Dark Night of the Soul.” Tool enthusiasts are well aware that the band’s songs don’t conform to typical 3:30/4:00 radio edits, and this is one of the things that makes their sound so unique. Fear Inoculum is pure, unpredictable, polyrhythmic beauty; the face of Janus personified. Danny Carey’s jaw-dropping compositional beats and rhythms set the tone for order emerging out of chaos and vice-versa: a noteworthy musical commentary on the esoteric leanings of the group as a whole. This (IMHO) is the closest thing to rock perfection I have ever heard.

If you read these reviews and think some of us more passionate people are being silly, then Tool is not for you. If are a critical thinker, and you desire self reflection, and exponential emotional evolution, then you’re probably already here. Tool is not like any other band.

Descending sends me to another dimension when I’m tripping on acid. This album is incredible just like all of their other albums.

Not up to the TOOL standards. This was sinply a cash grab to make money one last time before they stop making music. The 90s was by far TOOL’s most creative time.

After such a long wait this is so worth it. For me this there 3rd best album. Love the direction they took. People expect it the bands we like and enjoy to stay the same. There best selves but we grow and change and mature. As with Tool they have done this in the most spectacular way. Showing us a better way and more awesome path and maturity that the bands we like hope for. Getting this is still my newest album to date. And I have a particular taste in music. And Tool goes to show that they still have it. 30 YEARS AFTER BEING FORMED KEEP THAT IN MIND.
