    Great album/mixtape
  • Amazing work, not my #1

    By Ballsmatty
Album is a work of art, no doubt, but it lacks the story telling and the journey that his other albums and mixtapes have. I love albums I can get lost in for an hour. I turn it on and come out the end an hour later feeling like I went on a true melodic and lyrical in the shoes of the artist. This lacks that, obviously, because it was never meant to be that. Cole was out to do something different here and I respect it, it’s just not my favorite. I would have given this 5 stars but I think it was too short. Would have been nice if Middle Child, Lewis Street, and Snow on the Bluff were on here—hell why not the LA leakers freestyle too? I do think Cole’s future projects will not be like this album, and when those drop I am sure I’ll appreciate this one even more due to its rarity. Thanks Cole for this unforgettable album.
  • Instant Classic.

Every album Cole has chosen to push his limits and go outside of what is either expected, or what he typically does. Off Season is that and more. Trying different flows on just about every song, initially releasing the track list to look as if there were no features, only to have chosen some of the best new voices in the game, along with his Dreamville running mate Bas in a whole new way. From the moment the album starts, it’s very clear the objective is simple. “I rap better than all of you and if you feel otherwise, please step up.” A great second duo track with 21 Savage, and a very pleasant surprise feature from the best new artist, Lil Baby. Cole brings the best out of each feature, and doesn’t waste a bar, or second to make the theme ever present. After releasing “i n t e r l u d e .” during promo, it sounded great. Hearing it within the album, it was even more outstanding. Even the “c l i m b . b a c k” which we heard a year ago sounds fresh within the album. Add a 3rd classic to Cole’s catalog. If you enjoy true technical, clever, and bravado rap - this album is for you. Definitely an early submission for albums of the year. As one of the top 3 guys, stepping out first and setting the bar speaks very highly of how Cole feels about this album, and his place in the game. “Now my assigned seat is the throne.” And continuing to apply pressure (no pun) dropping music videos for three songs already. Cole World, no blanket.
