  • Christmas Angel

Just pulled this album out to listen to while putting up the Christmas tree and it brought me right back to Christmas 2007 right after my now 9 year old was born. It was an emotional time for many reasons but when I would put this album on and lay my newborn baby on my chest, the rest of the world would melt away. Her voice, that of an angel, would serenade us while I laid there listening to his every breath. Thank you Sarah for a timeless classic. 💙
  • Peaceful, but too somber

This is a very peaceful collection. That was the most salient word that I was left with after my first listen through. An image of a quiet and snowy field outside a winter's window is conjured. On the downside, it is that peacefulness that makes it a drag on the yule tide feeling. It's teeters more on the depressed side than the peaceful at times. It's not lively enough and seems more for someone to drink alone to during the holidays rather than gear up for the season. Song by song, it's a mixed bag. Some songs are great. She sings beautifully throughout. Her version of Silent Night might be one of the best versions ever. On the other hand, her song The First Noel/Mary Mary is probably the very worst christmas song I've ever heard. It sounds like she tried to make a Christmas song for The Lion King. Terrible and anything but Christmasy. After a while though, as is always the case for me with her, you just get too much of her voice. One can O.D. on her voice after about 5 songs in a row.

I bought this album when it came out and I could not stop listening to it. I only listen to it around Christmas ( though it's great anytime of the year) and I really look forward to Christmas because I know I'm going to listen this album. Favorite song

I am truly shocked by the itunes review of Sarah McLachian's WIntersong Album. What ARE they smoking? She is so freakin' musical ... her renditions of songs heretofore heard millions of times the same monontonous way are so brilliant and innovative in their musical integrity and balance .. As Bing's versions of certain Christmas Songs have survived the test of time and remain classics unable to replicated ... so will it be for Wintersong. A truly masterful Album.
