Beats their new stuff by a long shot. "Breathe" and "Leader of men" are really amazing singles. For me, those two songs are what really represent Nickelback. Those distorted guitar riffs, unusual lyrics (in a good way), and Chad's voice made it an instant sale for me.

Out of all of their albums, this is the best
Whatever happened to THIS Nickelback?
Kind of sad, what they've become these days, compared to what they used to be...
Nickelback's second album, The State, is what Curb should've been more like. The band does mighty improvements with both lead and backing vocals, making them clearer to understand. Along with this, a good majority of the songs on this album are much more memorable than the ones on the previous album. One of Nickelback's absolute best! My favorite songs include "Breathe", "Old Enough", "Worthy to Say", "Deep", and "Not Leavin' Yet".
leader of men is the best song ever <3
Wish Nickelback would go back and listen to this album...
This is so much better than the Nickelback of today. They really had some great songs here. Now they all sound the same. Nickelback doesn't make bad songs now, but they don't make any great ones either. They are all catchy tunes, but not something you want on you iPod forever. I really wish they would come out with something different that has the feeling of 'The State'. A+ on this one though.
leader of men its simply amazing!!!
ok yes we know nickelback is amazing but silver side up did NOT come before The State!
Out of all the albums I own, I really must say that this is probably the most disappointing. I had high expectations because of how popular Nickelback are, but was not happy with this.
If you like Nickelback, there isn't anything here that will disappoing you, but if you only like their mainstream singles then I recommend sticking to those.
Not a BAD album, and I might listen to it from time to time.., but I have to say.. shame on you Nickelback, I was expecting more.
This album is pushin' the lower side of three stars.
Somehow I missed Leader of Men on the first play through. Good song, makes the album worth it. The one thing Nickelback always has goin' for it is that one (maybe two) good song(s).
The album as a whole is better on the second time through.
Although I stick by my 3* rating, I'm bumping it up to 4*, both to be nice and because I might recommend it to others.
From disappointing to 'Meh, glad I bought it used'.
Breathe is my fav song!
