THis album is amazing! He is one person that doesn't cuss in every single "song" and that's just what I was looking for! IT's sooooo funny too! Hip Hop Animosity is great...

I recently discovered Mike's comedy on This American Life. His story about being the "celebrity" at a charity golf tournament in New Jersey is hysterical and original; you really feel Mike's pain. He's got a great talent for storytelling and joke writing.  I think we're going to see great things from this guy for years to come. This album is an essential addition to any serious standup collection.

A spectacular album. The Celebrity Golf Debacle and MVP Awards stories are two of the most painful and hilarious stories I've ever heard. I've burned like a million copies for my friends. Perfect for long road trips or long runs at the gym

Anyone a fan of akward situations or misunderstanding common to sitcoms and other comedy shows will learn to love Mike Birbiglia quickly. Tales of unpleasantly catholic parents, mistaken indentities and insulting crippled people on accident, you will laugh as he recalls some of the more embarassing situations he's been in.

I don't know who wrote the summary for this album, but they did a horrible job hyping the CD even a little. It doesn't matter what degree of a Birbiglia fan you are, if you like to laugh, then you'll love this CD. The transitions are quite smooth in my opinion, and the Catholic School Sunglasses track that they described as being so bad is hysterical; much like the entire CD. I strongly recommend getting both this CD and Two Drink Mike, they lose none of their appeal even after several listens.
  • Really funny!

I think this album is a lot better than the main review would have you believe. There's a great variety of material here, and a lot of it is truly clever and inspired. I don't think you have to be a Birbiglia Devotee to really appreciate it - the material stands on its own.
  • WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT HIM?!?

This cd is as hilarious as Two Drink Mike, possibly even more so. One think I liked was that he sometimes used jokes from the Two Drink Mike cd, but he put a new twist on it. Mostly it's new material, though, and he is on the top of the comedy game as far as I'm concerned.

Okay, we all know Dane Cook, Chris Rock, Daniel Tosh, Lewis Black, etc. But this comic, Birbiglia, is going places with his act. He is so true to himself and what he does, who he is, and all the rest. He has a witty analysis of funny topics, and molds it all his own. He's an appealing guy, so likeable all the same. Okay, he doesn't strut it all like Dane Cook, but Birbiglia can't be denied of what he has potential for. Granted, i'll give My Secret Public Journal better props than Dane Cook's Edges album...keep it going Birbiglia :)
