I love the simplicity of this album. João without distraction
been listening to this album for the past 2 years - always from start to finish.
great music when I'm down as well as up, great background music for friends' gathering, drinking coffee, sunday brunch, whatever the occasion is.
What an incredible voice! Thanks for the previous reviews, you all helped me in deciding whether I should purchase this album or not - I am so glad I did!!! :)
Waited for this for over 40 years
This is the album Joao Gilberto was born to make.
When I first heard his music as a young boy in the 60's,
I dreamed of how wonderful it would be to hear him without all
the distracting arrangements and orchestration of those recordings. This album realized my dream and then some.
I can't stop singing along to Eclipse!
This is even worse than elevator music
Of Course this is another masterpiece by Joao Gilberto
Joao is one of my all-time heros and this is the first time I have heard him play by himself, and boy does this disc swing! Gilberto's percussive guitar style provides the bossa nova rhythm, and his understated voice and beautifully quiet singing create a completely unique style that's his alone. Even if you don't speak or understand Portuguese, you should buy all his records. Nobody has ever made more beautiful music than this man, and he is the one person who took all of composer pianist Antonio Carlos Jobim's songs and made them hits all around the world. This great recording even includes two updates of Joao and Jobim's classics, Desifinado and Chega de Saudade, which was the first song the young Joao Gilberto ever recorded.
This album is the perfect medium for Joao Gilberto. Just his bossa nova voice and great guitar playing. Amazing quality recordings. Shame on iTunes for not providing the full album.
