Scares the children, and pleases the ears.
Another big bruiser from the Algorythm camp, and I'm proud to announce that Current Value is in top form here.
Excellence hits a hard and makes an artform out of controlled chaos. But throughout it all, Current Value manages to keep it interesting with subtle changes in bassline and drum pattern. As far as danceability goes...yes...but less grooving and more "headbanger" style. Nice deep growling bass, glitches, beeps, it would seem that, at times, Excellence sounds like a computer gone haywire, but in a good way, a way the hardcore-dark DnB fan will love.
Twisted is the personal favorite here. Nice solid intro, and the cup-up strings catch the attention immediately. It progresses nicely, and then that infamous Current Value growling bass drops. But what Current did here that makes Twisted so delightful a tune is that instead of following his usual bash-your-brains-out, blazing-fast style, he instead establishes an addicting, funky, fat, half-tempo groove that rolls right a long and will get your feet tapping and dancin' along. By combining his sound with this style of rolling beats, Current Value has created a track that is deep, evil, and will have you listening over and over again for weeks to come.
For the "twisted" drum and bass fan, this EP is a must.
