Not So Hiot

Christiane Noll sings better than I. But I don't pretend to be a vocalist. And judging by this album, neither should she. The show tunes are fine, but her voice sounds thin, is badly off-key here and there, and approaches what I can only call 'screeching' in other places. Given the plethora of highly favorable reviews, I can't help wondering what it is about this album that folks like so much, as I'm sure missing it. Maybe screeching works in high school or on Broadway, but it doesn't here. At least, not for me. Thumbs down.
THE BEST I'VE HEARD!!

Wow! I listened to a lot of singers tonight, including Sutton Foster, Susan Egan and Audra McDonald. l loved all of them, but this woman is in my opinion, the best of the bunch. Her voice in like velvet, and she jumps around from a high belt, to an amazing head voice, with equal ease and comfort. The song choices are wonderful and I give this CD a perfect score.
What happened to her voice?

Christiane Noll has the strongest, cleanest, sweetest belt in Broadway history. Where did it go? This album is almost completely sung in her head voice, which is nice, but it's not what sets her apart from the rest. Listen to "Times Like This" from "A Broadway Love Story" to see what I mean... and then listen to anything on this album. Great album, but it's NOT the Christiane Noll that I know, and that makes me sad.
still amazing

I have had the pleasure of seeing Ms Noll in the musical Jekyll and Hyde and I must say, I fell in love with her then and this CD reminds me of that time. Great CD, wonderful voice and great choice of songs!! Nice to see you Christiane!
Excellent--a pleasure to hear

Consistent with her previous releases, this is a thoroughly enjoyable album. Again, Ms. Noll has managed to use her voice to "act" each song and compel listeners to hang on every word of even the most familiar songs. This is especially praiseworthy because the songs are not reconceived or set in a different style. Ms. Noll sings the songs in a manner that is consistent with traditional interpretations but she infuses each with an "in the moment" delivery that is unique. While she is obviously gifted and well-trained, each song also sounds effortless.

Finally! Jay Records finally got its act together. I have been waiting for this album for a long, long time -- it has certainly been worth the wait. Ever since I heard Christiane sing Glitter and be Gay with the NSO I had been waiting for her to record it. When we heard her with teh POPs last year, she promised the album was coming. Well, here it is. And, she is flawless. There is not a bad track on this CD. She is delightful, delicious, and delovely. My only problem is that there isn't more of her to love.
this is one to buy.Super!

Christiane (as usual for her) sings first from her soul, then uses her amazing voice to deliver one of the truest sounds I've ever heard. Each performance, each album, she does so much more than sing the song. It so full of personality and passion, she seems to live it. Brings it right to your soul!Amazing! Phantom - that last note. Crazy!
A Triumph
