Yeah it isn’t all of it, Sail the Waterway, Dallas are missing as Becker and Fagen forbid it being on there, that said it does have some tracks that you would not expect on their like a unique version of FM, a single track Here at the western world, a rather surprising outake version of Everyone’s gone to the movies and live version Bodhisattva with a rather “Spirit Filled” introduction. There have been more recent remasterings of the track since 93, so better sound quality is out there, but the quality on these tracks isn’t bad. Personally for someone who likes Steely Dan its a great collection, the only tracks I really wish it had were the first two I mentioned, Mister Sam (outake), The Bear (Outtake), The Second Arrangement (Outake Demo), Runnin Child (Outake), Kule Baba (Outtake Demo), This All to mobile Home (Live Only Song), Funky Driver (Outtake demo), and Kind Spirit (Demo Outtake)
  • Get the individual albums

The music here, of course, is 5 stars. However, if you want to get everything by Steely Dan from this era, then I recommend getting the individual *remastered* albums. The price is comparable, and the sound is much better. This box set is also missing a few interesting songs, most notably the Dallas/Sail the Waterway single. However, you can get Poco's version of Dallas (which sounds a lot like Steely Dan). I don't know of any version of Sail the Waterway that's available.

This box set has all 7 of their albums, squeezed onto 4 discs. Released in 1991, it obviously doesn't have their two comeback albums from the 2000s. A nice way to buy an instant Steely Dan collection.
  • Jaw-droppingly great.

$40 bucks for pure musical nirvana? A bargain. Though I love having the actual CD's.

"No remorse..." So many songs I had forgotten about. Remember albums or even tapes or c.d.s? Every album had one song that no one played on the radio that you connected with. It was worth sitting through the ones that weren't as moving to get to the gems. This has everything. Some things I've never heard, some things I'd misplaced in my memory. It's summer music to me. Coolness, against the heat. I do miss the album cover for several reasons. The session musicians on this collection represent the best our generation has produced. I used to know who was playing along on every song. The album cover's information was the seed of knowledge that stemmed my understanding of the whole joint. Put this on and let it run through. Worth every penny.
