This album is so different than his others, but its so good. It's a completely different change of pace, and every song is different. It reminds me of a collection of different stories all put into one anthology. Good job Jimmy, and keep the albums coming.
  • Take a Second Look

This album proves just how versatile Jimmy Buffett can be. Anyone who thinks Buffett is just about drinking songs should hear the soul and feel the depth of this beautiful album with ethnic flair.

Far Side of the World has to be some of Jimmy's finest. The whole cd is like sharing his travels. Savanna Fare You Well just has captivated me to the max. Thank you Jimmy for enriching my life!

This album is another great journey, The music is clean and crisp and as always Jimmy, the great story teller, provides you the opportunity to connect to places you have never been or seen. (Autour du rocher)...I swear I've been there...heck, I think I have a few stories of my own! After a couple of plays the album grows on you like your favorite shirt. Nice and easy.
  • Loved the song so much, I'm naming my daughter after it!!

  • Best since Coconut Telegraph!!!!

Buffett's catalogue can be broken down into clearly defined sub-catagories for me: 70's Outlaw Country (up through Daydreamin), 70's 80's Studio Rock (SOASOAS - China), 80's Pop Country, and Elder Statesman (Fruitcakes -Present). "Far Side" is the crowning acheivement of his Latter era, so far, and in my top 5 Buffett albums. This a mature, fun, wonderful, emotional, rich record, with very little of the cutesy-poo in song chatter that works so well for him in concert and fails him so completely on record (save Fruitcakes and Atour du Rocher). My he return to this calibur and leave Liscence to Chill behind!
  • 5 Stars for a Reason

There is something so wonderful about this album. Its a story about a guy that is embracing the world around him and having a great and colorful time. So much of music today is about the best lick, the best single, the best skill. "Far Side" is about connecting with one of music's most gifted song-writers and leaders. I actually think the production value is a little better than "Beach House" and Mac Macanally's guitar-work is really quite incredible. But even beyond all that, this is an album of a man who has a heart for the world he is still living in. I cannot recommend "Far Side of the World" enough. Thanks Jimmy!!!
