  • Great Fun!

Banjo music isn't high on my list of favorites but this album is just plain fun. The music is lively and uplifting and the lyrics in songs like, "Atheists Have No Songs" is guaranteed to bring a smile. Give it a shot.

Was lucky enough to see them perform most of the songs on this album live at the Count Basie Theatre last week. Steve is great, the Rangers are FANTASTIC. This is a great album; have also bought several others by this Grammy Award winning bluegrass group. Their music is the best!!!

Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers are fantastic. I love the original songs and some beloved songs like King Tut. Jubilation Day is funny yet serious and my kids like Yellow-Backed Fly. I like the Dixie Chicks and Paul McCartney too. I love the music so much and the artwork is incredible. Kudos to G. Carr for illustration.
  • This Bird Is Rare Indeed...

Saw Steve and the Rangers in Portland, OR and my entire family agreed... it was, no question, one of the finest shows we've ever seen. We laughed out loud, tapped our toes, and did not want it to end. Just don't know if it was the funniest concert I've ever attended, or the the best musical comedy?

These birds must be grinning because they surely can pick & play. Excellent singing, writing & my goodness, I was laughing out loudly! Of course Steve Martin can play the banjo. He writes, acts and works well with others. Anything else? I definitely recommend this whole album even if blue grass is not your preferred lawn covering. Makes me think that I need to check out the Steep Canyon Rangers & Steve on their tour-maybe Humphreys by the Bay, San Diego. Denizon of blue grass & ocean water.

Bought the song King Tut only. Of all Martin's versions of this song, this one is the best because of his whimsical use of the banjo. Steve Martin is quite a banjo picker. Loved the solo!

Steve Martin is an amazing comedian with various talents, which make him as great as he is. If you are looking for fun blue-grassy type music with a sense of humour, then this is a great find.

I love fishing and I can relate to the guy in "yellow-backed fly".There was a giant bass up in Maine that I struggled to bring in.Great song. (ps:I landed the fish).
  • Rare Find (shouldn't be)

This is my first review. Best I can say is Mr. Steve Martin(and his troupe of very well trained musicians) have produced an album that makes me wish I learned to play banjo.

Just caught the show at the PAC in Tulsa. They were great. Not only was the music fantastic but Steve was hilarious between songs. I highly recommend catching the show when they come through.
