  • Awesome!

    By Trumpet man--
This album is amazing, especially the alternate versions of their classic song, but if you are a Beatle collector you don't need every song. If you do some research a couple songs are basically original and are not worth the dollar. Otherwise, it is amazing.
  • Even their outtakes are the best

    By MarkfromSC
What I love about these outtakes is you get to hear these songs in their most organic's amazing. Even rough and unfinished the Beatles have a presence of sound and personality about them that is so unique, so magnetic...won't ever happen again in this lifetime.
  • Track 8

  • across the universe (take 2)??

    By awolowiecki720
i bought "across the universe" recently and wondered why it wasn't showing up in iCloud. Well, now i know why. The song is suddenly missing from the album now! I even checked multiple websites that all say it's supposed to be on this album. And the funniest part is, up until about a week ago, it was! because i bought it from iTunes…i know i did. Anybody know what's going on?

  • Yesterday and Today.

    By John Lennon Lookalike
Anthology 2 is the best of the 3 parts. Its shows that the Beatles really took time in there work, they just did't sit down one day and comepose a classic. if they'd put the anthology out in say 1970 instead of 1996 I don't think that any body would have bought it but those really hard core fans. Because the Beatles were seen a liveing legends. Changes to peoples most beloved song would not have been greatly praised. But know 41 years after the break up people love the beatles even more then those teenage girls sreaming at the top of there lungs every time they would see John's hand or something.
  • Oh yeah, the Beatles Anthology!!!

The Beatles are with us, everybody. Don't you just love them? Here we have the second Beatles Anthology album, which chronicles the band's middle period from 1965 to early 1968. It begins with another new song called "Real Love," which was a John Lennon demo from the late 70's that Paul, George and Ringo added music to in 1994 (as they also did with the other Lennon demo, "Free As A Bird," that same year). Some of the songs featured here are live versions of "Ticket to Ride," Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" and "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby." There are also acoustic renditions of "I'm Only Sleeping" (Take 1) and "Strawberry Fields Forever" (both the demo sequence and Take 1 of the latter sound very peaceful and not forced). "Yesterday" appears twice on this album both recorded live and as a studio version without the string quartet. An alternate take of "Eleanor Rigby" has only the strings on it, making it an instrumental recording. The new mixes of "Penny Lane," "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" and "Lady Madonna" seem to distract from this album, even though they are actually made up of several different takes. The rest are basic tracks of the songs from albums, but without any other sound effects, so they seem to be unfinished. I personally like Take 2 of "Across the Universe" because it has all of the instruments playing smoothly and it flows at a steady pace, letting the Beatles' creativity really show. That being said, I think it's a great album and anyone who likes this will enjoy it. Get this and you will see how the Beatles' music started to evolve into different art forms as the band members' influences began to grow from Help! to the next several albums released later on.
