Reviews

  • One of Mozart's best - but not this version

Requiem is an amazing piece of music. This recording I found somewhat flat, although tough to go wrong with any version of this classic. As usual, it is tough to beat Sir Neville Marriner / Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields. If ever in doubt as to what version of Mozart to buy, always go with Neville Marriner - not only is the performance top notch, but almost as important, the recording and sound is crisp and clear.
  • Where's the Passion?

Highly disappointing! Please listen to the Bohm recording and see if you don't agree!
  • Awesome

This is an awesome piece and definitely an appropriate work to purchase and listen to on the 220th anniversary of Mozart's death. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys Mozart. I have not stopped listening to this since I purchased it.
  • Good, but there's better recordings out there

It seems I may be in the minority on this one, but this recording just does not impress. There are obvious balance issues throughout the recording and tempo problems to boot. Dies Ire for example never seems to find a groove and stay there. Most professional recordings are right in the pocket, but this one seems to be more concerned with theatrics than establishing a solid musical foundation.

I believe Herbert Von Karajan did a amazing job in reincarnating, in my opinion Motzart's most beautiful peice of music ever!

I heard this in music class, and i found it in amadeous, but u couldnt buy it w/o the album. This is an amazing piece, full of death, love, and sorrow. This is my favorite piece that he has written. If you love music, you must buy this!
  • Mozart would have played it like von Karajan

This is the most authentic version of the requiem. I have heard many interpretations and Herbert von Karajan gets it right.
