Although a short life it was tremendous, not going along to get along but challenging listeners and musicians alike. Someone mentioned they wanted this played at their funeral, I played it at my children's birth, always smiles. A Love Supreme!

OK, saw a column today that listed the 50 Greatest Jazz Albums of all time. This one was second. So I listened to it. I like jazz, Brubeck, Basie, Zoot, Oscar Peterson, Pizzarelli, Torme, Ellington, Goodman. This doesn't do it for me. It doesn't even get me started. Sorry. I'm not there. I'll take Zoot, or Harry Allen, or Lockjaw, or Coleman Hawkins over this any day. Sorry John.

There is nothing else like it. It all fits. It speaks to the depths. Please listen...

Soulful and sweet this is, in my opinion, the best jazz album of all time. I love Davis's "A kind of blue" but it never moved me like "A love supreme" for some reason. This is a must own for any music lovers collection. I want this played at my funeral.
  • There are better mixes of this brilliant album

Sadly this ‘Mastered for iTunes’ version completely buries Coltrane’s ethereal saxophone playing below the drums and the piano. This is horribly mixed compared to other versions of the album. It sounds like John Coltrane was in another building than the rest of the group in this mix. I regret this purchase. A Love Supreme is a brilliant, must have album, but this re-mastering defeats much of what made this album great. Look for other versions or masters of this album.
  • Coltrane’s Swan Song - An Absolute Masterpiece!

Without a doubt, A Love Supreme is the BEST album ever John Coltrane ever recorded - an absolute masterpiece, and (in my opinion) the greatest jazz album of all time.
  • Ahhh…..

John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Dave Brubeck all pioneers of this sophisticated form of music. Dave, Stan, John, and Henry Mancini are my idols. Not to mention other great legends like Louis Prima, Louis Armstrong, Carmen McRae, Buddy Rich, Cecil Taylor, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughn, Basia and so many more…..
