  • Fine Art

When Steely Dan is lauded for their epic album “AJA” it makes me wonder why the Royal Scam is left in the shadows as it is. AJA and GAUCHO are indeed epic and anyone who says otherwise is foolish. But their mastery of the listeners senses truly begins with this rich blending of storytelling and music. Listening to Fagen & Becker from this album forward is like being invited to a fine banquet where the courses are so rich and so varied that your senses are stretched to their limits. It can feel like walking through the Van Gough museum in Amsterdam. All day isn’t enough as you continue to be washed over by the artist power to communicate. These two are nothing less than masters of a Fine Art!

Great "memory" album for me but just as good today as it was then. My 2nd favorite Dan album after "Countdown to Ecstacy"-anyone else love "Countdown"? I think we played it twice a day for about a year straight in college! In either case Steely Dan always was and is in a class completely by themselves.
  • Oh yeah!

Finally downloading this excellent Steely Dan work - my homemade 70's cassette recording just doesn't do it justice!
  • The Best. Hands Down.

Being a sophmore in HS, no one but me listens to SD, and i feel privilaged to know about them. They are 100% musical genius. They are my favorite musicians of all time. Aja, Cant buy a thrill, Everything must go, and especially The Royal Scam. Kid Charlamagne is my favorite SD song ever. People like them are so underappreciated in todays race for fame. Most of today's music is fake to me, and only old bands like SD can remind me of how much fun music is.

My favorite SD LP. Met Larry Carlton in Copper Mtn, Co several years ago and he signed my beat up High School copy. This hit me at just the right time in HS my senior yr and changed the direction I would go musically. bob, denver, co

Fagan is one fo, if not, the best along with Beker. I guess you all know the story of Kid Charlemange? He is the guy, a chemist who re-created LSD. He lived in SF and eventually got busted. So the story goes... Hay, just hit more on the description, rest my case.
