Another great Café compilation
Café Latino is the fifth in Putumayo’s Café series. As is usually the case with Putumayo, not all of the artists or songs are strictly “Latino”. The wonderful Jehro, singing opener “Salima”, hails from France while Spanish artist Miguel Gil sings in French (Edit: actually he is singing in Catalan). Nevertheless, this is a cohesive album comprised of singer/songwriters from around the world accompanied by acoustic guitar and piano, with strings and horns occasionally making an appearance. It is not as good as the instant classic Café Cubano, but after a few listens, I find this a fantastic album to relax and drink coffee to. Key tracks are “Salima”, “Por Verte Llegar” and "Soñando con Quito”. Highly recommended.
