UM-phreaking believable show
By Taylor 48577
The raw skills and unparalleled diversity of this band is on full display with this album. There is nobody out there that sounds like this band. And whatever sound your favorite band is trying to accomplish, SOMEHOW Umphrey's McGee does it better.
Give this show a listen, because Umphrey's McGee leaves ZERO DOUBT who the best band on the planet is. And while listening, if you ever do find yourself in doubt... Just wait for it because shortly after Umphrey's will have you laughing out loud at how ridiculously good they are (shaking your head wondering how you ever doubted). These dudes aren't just going through the motions, they are like rock gods with mind control devices feeding your innermost emotional itches. With one of a kind song arrangement
and world class improvisational skills you will not know what is coming next, YET you will find your self begging for more - Rage. Rest. Repeat. That is the motto.
Kudos to special guest and saxophonist Joshua Redman for killing it on the Sax. What a treat!

I'm proud to say I brought my 60 year old mom to this show during her visit to Denver. You've got a new fan! This show was so solid from start to finish. And getting Joshua Redman for the 2nd set, just wow. His sax was on fire and added an excellent additional layer to each track. Well done, UM, and thanks for the release!
Get your umph right here!

I can't stop hooping to this run of music and ive never felt so inspired to hula hoop. Warning: It will move your body and mind and cause some incredible feelings inside that you may have to share with others. Umph takes it to a whole new level with their improv and extra band member, JR at NYE 2013.
umphreys mcgee plus Joshua Redman is a great combination
The cover of River People and the is a must hear, as well as the +30 minute opening DBK->AmbleOn->DBK. Great interplay between Jake and Joshua throughout the whole set.

Are you tired of being uncool? Buy some Umph instant coolness.
UM 12-29 Face Melt Rock
Smoking show for the middle of a run.
Flamethrower > Mulches set the tone from the first note. Always a favorite.
Plunger right into day nurse was the first dance party of evening but not the last.
Nemo>dear lord> Nemo was the first of two tasty sandwiches this night. Followed up by dumpstaphunk city featuring the great Ivan Neville.
My 2 personal highlights came in the 2nd set.
The DBK Sammy featuring the prodigy Jaden Carlsen got things moving again. Great work between her and Jaco.
The weather report cover to end the 2nd set was definitely a crowd pleaser for those of us whom got it.
I think it's safe to say that umphrey's has moved on from melting faces and more into blowing skulls apart and dropping panties.
a sit-in like no other
When going to see an Umphrey's Mcgee concert, you guaranteed two things: you never quite know what you'll get and it will be awesome. That's why if you go once, you'll go again. On this night, they had the great saxophonist Joshua Redman sit-in. To Umphrey's fan, a Redman sit-in is one of those moments where you can feel the band will reach heights unparalleled to what you've seen in the past. Its rare and beloved. It brings a a different energy to the improv and it adds a new twist to the songs you already love. This is night two of a four night run that closes out a stellar 2013 from Umphrey's McGee. If you're a fan or if you never heard Umphrey's play before, check this night out. Simply put, It's gift for improv music fans.
Only the best
If you want a real feel for what this band can do then buy this CD. Umphrey's live is unparalleled. They have a unique sound and an energy you can't get from a studio album. Pop this in and instantly feel like you're there.
