Don't hate me for this review if you loved this album because I agree that Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley is an awesome artist, BUT I personally believe (meaning this is just my opinion) that his newer works are better than this so if there was one of his albums to buy it would be "Welcome to Jamrock"
  • Love it!

Damian Marley is a great vocalist and of all the Marleys he has the ability to move you spiritually WITH vocals alone. The greatest thing about Halfway Tree is that Damian seemed to have acknowledged that behind the right music his vocalism could really be powerful. In Halfway he displays that change, apparent in tracks like "Educated Fools"and "Catch a Fire" . Other tracks that have been deemed "crap" are acquired tastes. If you're into hip hop, then you'll appreciate either the message behind them or at the very least the music. Nevertheless, it's a great sophomore album and really opens the door for Jamrock.

Damian is totally unique to the reggae genre. I think he rep's the pulse of Jamaica extremely well on this CD. Being a regular in JA I know and feel it. The first few tunes are a little hardcore, but it mellows out a bit into a real powerhouse. If you like this you will also like Welcome to Jamrock where he grows and expands further. Stephan Marley's Mind Control is alot different but a definite knockout. Try that one too.
  • INSPIRATIONAL!!

Junior Gong keeps the legacy of his father going. 'Welcome to Jamrock' is also fabulous. If you haven't already, check out Julian Marley's 'A Time & Place', Ky-mani Marley's 'The Journey', and Stephen Marley's 'Mind Control'!!!!!
  • Another JR GONG classic

This album is a masterpiece one of JR GONG's best if not his best. He is one of reggae best artist and he is leading the Marley legacy. Still Searchin' is a wonderful song, and It Was Written is talkin about some deep stuff. It is a must buy, must have for any "true" reggae fan.
