  • I guess anybody can be a reviewer?

Missed by a mile on this one. A littler bit of the new Jimmy, a little bit of the old Jimmy, and a little bit for everyone. Several of what would become classic Buffet tunes and concert staples for decades to come are found as originals here, In retrospect one of Buffett's best albums.

This could be Buffett's best. Certainly among the top 3. The live remake Volcano 2011 is a must. Pure magic from a master.

This was the first Jimmy Buffet LP I ever got. Less than a year later, Mt. St. Helens blew and my family could see it out our front window. This became our anthem. The next year Jimmy came to Portland, OR and told the audience, "I waited a whole year to come and sing this song (Volcano) here!" We went wild! This album will alway hold a very special place in my heart. Not all these songs are considered his greatest hits, but this is vintage Jimmy at the top of his game. There is not a bad song on the album.
  • Simply put, it is a must for all people

Parrot Heads all should agree that this was the albumn than moved Jimmy from "old" to "new" Buffett he incorporated new sounds and instruments; however, he has never lost the foundation from which he began. This is a pivotal albumn for all people who are interested in Buffett, like him, or love him, this is Buffett at his honest true best. I sing this albumn in my sleep, it is background music for my life.
  • The BEST Buffett EVER-ignore the lame review!

This is perfect Jimmy at his best. I'm not a Parrothead. I've been to two concerts, and those were 20 years ago. But this is one of those ALBUMS, that you bought on cassette, then you bought on CD, and now in digital. Heck, I guess that in itself makes me a fan. Combine this album with Living and Dying in 3/4 time and you have a perfect day at the beach. If you don't have it, GET IT!
  • Reviewer missed again!

The "radio" songs are the low spot of this albumn. Take my advice, skip the "radio songs" and go straight to "Stranded on a Sandbar" or "Treat her like a Lady" or any of the other 5.
  • One of the greats!

I'm not sure what the iTunes reviewer was thinking when he wrote this article, but Volcano is one of the best albums made by Jimmy. Between Fins, Volcano, Treat Her Like A Lady, Survive, Boat Drinks, and Dreamsicle, you can't possibly consider this one of the lesser albums. And while Chanson Pour Les Petits Enfants definitely seems a little out of place on this album, it is classic Buffett. It is indeed a child's song, but its upbeat feeling is what Jimmy Buffett is all about.

I don't know what the reviewer was thinking when he/she wrote this. I grew up with this album playing, and have so many good memories. This is Buffett at his finest, to say the least. Southern, tropical, reflective, and just good music to smile to on a sunny day, while making dinner, or for whatever. I completely disagree with the iTunes reviewer, and suggest you share in the magic of this special collection.

This is the album I became a died in the wool Buffett Parrot Head. It will always be one of my all time favorite collections of music. I got to see Jimmy (live) in Minneapolis during the Volcano tour and will never forget it. Boat Drinks had a special meaning to the four of us friends that attended the concert because we were sucking down blender drinks before and after. The song survive got me through a rocky divorce, and Treat Her Like a Lady was a perfect song for that perfect girl (you know who you are Marne). I cannot say enough good things about this album. So good was it, in fact, that I purchased the LP, cassett, and CD as the technology advanced. Parrot Head 4 Ever
  • Christmas in Ohio

Years ago I received this as a tape in my Christmas stocking. It happened to be an especially cold Christmay day even for Ohio. I was making my holiday rounds to friends houses in my old '72 Impala. Had to wait until the car got warm enough to allow the tape deck to work. When it did I put this tape in the deck and hit play. While driving on just plowed roads with the wind howling outside I was transported inside that Impala by the songs on Volcano to a much warmer clime. I live in Florida nowadays on the beach. Grateful as I am for that I was more grateful for that beach feeling on that cold Christmas day all those years ago.
