  • Timeless Bossa Nova

I've worn out 2 LP's, 2 cassette tapes and a CD of this album...my parents bought this from the record club when I was 7 and I have listened to it ever since. Each song puts me on the beach, sitting in the sand with the warm water washing over my toes...in the distance, the sun sets, a sailboat tacks off in the distance, gulls wheel overhead and life is good.

I'm looking for Wave in iTunes. It's on Equinox, the 1987 release of Best of ...'66 and Four Sider. They don't have that best of and both Equinox and Four Sider are partials both without Wave and also you can't buy the partial. What's up with both of those? You can get some of the other songs from other albums they have but not Wave. Contractual issues? Judging by the earlier reviews this issue didn't exist. Hope they're enjoying Wave! Those were the days aye! Three stars for iTunes, 5 for our beloved Sergio.
  • Where is WAVE?

This is one of my all time favorite records, but why is the album download missing the song Wave? It is on the original vinyl. Such a fantastic track. Where is it?!

I was so drawn in with the romantic sway of Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66, in love with Lani Hall (damn you Herb Alpert!) I had their first 5 albums or so, saw them a couple of times at the Circle Star in San Carlos, CA; and now, I find myself building my iTunes with...Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66!
  • ever since

ever since i had this album in high school, 1964-1968, i have been hoping that all other brazillian music i could buy could have this sound and feel. i was reminded that times change, as does current music from brazil. everything i try to purchase on cd just doesn't have this album's 'magic'. and no strings or horns. just the group. one of my top ten favorites of all time. not one bad tune.

  • Terrific Album

    By catman1969
This is a great album - every song is worthy of being a hit. The 1960s was such a great period of time for music. Great new sounds and styles and songs. Sergio Mendes and Brasil 66 contributed some excellent, memorable music to the "soundtrack" of a very special time in American history. If you like this kind of music, this album is terrific.

I have been listening to Brasil 66 since their beginning. Saw them in concert in 1968. Absolutely awesome !!! They have withstood the test of time. Sergio Mendes took Lani Hall and Janice Hansen and created the perfect vocal blend, added the superb instrumentals and made the perfect bossa nova group. An absolute classic album.
  • Excellent Music!!!!

I’ve listened to the sounds of Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66 my entire life having been born in ’71. This was my mother’s favorite music, so growing up, I was exposed to all of these classic songs and sounds and I love them all dearly. If you are new to this music, you are in for a real treat. Between the rich tones of Samba and the sheer beauty and striking vocals of Lani Hall, there’s no way you can go wrong!
  • 40 Years On -- A Terrific Party Album!

Hard to believe this classic is about 40 years old, but it hasn't aged a day. Even the sitar on Constant Rain sounds fresh. Having friends over for food/wine/great conversation? Pop this on your player and let 'er rip. Instant party! Let the cocktails flow!
